About Ruben
I used to get average grades, but I just wasn't using the right techniques to study. After realising I needed to work a bit harder and study effectively I was able to achieve very high grades. Having sat these exact GCSE exams recently, I understand exactly what students need to succeed, from grasping tricky concepts to knowing how to approach exam questions with confidence. I'm patient, reliable, and genuinely enjoy helping others improve, and I tailor each lesson to make sure you leave with a clearer understanding than when you started.

I structure each lesson in two halves. In the first half, I go through the topic content, explaining concepts clearly and answering any questions to make sure the basics are solid. In the second half, we move on to exam practice, working through past paper questions and mark schemes so you get used to how marks are actually awarded and where students commonly lose points.
I keep lessons focused and interactive rather than just talking at you. I want you to be doing the work, not just watching me do it, since that's how it actually sticks.
Lesson length:
Lessons typically run for 1 hour, which gives enough time to properly cover a topic and then apply it through practice questions without rushing either half.
My experience:
I'm currently studying A-levels (Biology, Geography and Business) and achieved a 9-9 in GCSE Combined Science, alongside strong grades across the rest of my GCSEs. I sat these exact exams recently, so I know what the exam boards are actually looking for and where students tend to struggle. I'm not just going off a textbook, I remember what was genuinely hard.
