About Stuart
OCT (Ontario College of Teachers) certified. Actively teaching in school (not retired, not out of a job). University degree in English Literature, History, and Education. Qualified and certified to teach Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior level students (k-12). 10+ years experience teaching children from kindergarten through Grade 12. Previous subjects taught: ESL, SSAT prep (Elementary, Middle, and Upper), Public Speaking; specialized courses in Grammar, Reading, and Writing.
I know how to work with all ages because of experience, so all concepts can be chunked into manageable lessons for all types of learners/ages.

If English-related and/or Elementary-level subjects, will include some combination of the following, depending on student goals: written in-class work, readings with emphasis on pronunciation/understanding/critical thinking, guided instruction on assignments/essays, test prep, immediate feedback and correction.
Everything can be discussed to suit parental-student needs.
Depending on the age and needs of the student, I include creative writing, and game-quizzes as a way to intrinsically motivate learners with things like grammar, spelling, punctuation, and higher-order thinking.
History and Business follow similar format as above, with variations.
I am very calm and patient with my students, and will set achievable expectations for them each lesson. Lesson plans will change depending on subject, learning goal, etc. You are getting 1-on-1 so you have my full attention and expertise.
If purchasing many lessons, we can structure the learning to achieve a number of learning goals over time that build on each other, so student learning is strengthened and reinforced (i.e. less likely to be forgotten after several months).
***I do not provide free 30 minute lessons as a trial. The website puts that in, but I can provide a discounted rate of $50 for the first class***
