About Cassandra
Hello! My name is Cassie. I specialize in helping high school students master biology and microbiology.
I became a tutor because I believe anyone can excel at science when given the right tools and explanations. Biology isn't about memorizing a textbook—it's about understanding how life works. I love guiding students through complex concepts—like genetics, cellular processes, and microbiology—and watching that moment when everything finally clicks. My teaching style is interactive, practical, and focused on active problem-solving so you feel fully prepared for your exams and future studies.

I am currently pursuing advanced university studies in Biology and Microbiology, majoring in Anatomy and Physiology, giving me a deep and up-to-date understanding of core biological principles. My goal as a tutor is to help students overcome learning hurdles, develop strong study habits, and foster a genuine curiosity for the natural world. I offer a supportive, patient environment where asking questions and making mistakes are welcomed as key parts of learning. My personal techniques for teaching include:
- The"teach back" technique (Feynman technique): this involves asking a student to explain a concept back to me in their own words as if they were teaching a beginner. This quickly identifies areas of misunderstanding and solidifies their own mastery.
- Another teaching method is guided practice: this involves me demonstrating techniques or the problem-solving process, going through the process with them, and then having the student solve the problems independently to build confidence in their knowledge.
Session structure and engagement:
- Standard duration: 60 minutes
- Check-in and review: 15-20 minutes
- Core concept delivery: 20 minutes
- Applied practice: 20-25 minutes
- Reflection and wrap-up: 5 minutes
Who My Lessons Are For:
- Primary school students building foundational science skills.
- High school students (Years 7–12) preparing for exams, tackling biology assignment coursework, or looking to boost their overall science grades.
- Also anyone wanting to expand their knowledge or gain understanding for their relevant field i.e. fitness, personal training, health, and science.
