About Reid
I have worked as a tutor for nearly half a decade, and have loved every moment of it! I have a love for discovery and education, and I find my meaning in helping others experience it.
I also have a heart and understanding for those who struggle with medical diagnoses that impact their learning experience. As somebody who struggles with diagnosed OCD Anxiety, I understand how it (and many other disorders) can negatively influence the experience in the classroom. I am happy to work with anybody who struggles with such issues and am uniquely able to relate to their struggles.

My Lesson Plan
-Start: We begin with a friendly greeting and a discussion of how our day has been so far
-Touch Base: We will go over what we will be working on in our session, and what you currently understand about the subject and the work. This helps me know which angle to take when helping you
-Discovery: Once I recognize the subject matter and understand which way I can best help you, I will then go about it by going through the work with you by asking leading questions regarding the topic. This is opposed to a common technique of tutoring in saying the answers and telling you why those answers are correct. In this way of tutoring, it will allow the mind of student to discover the answer on their own with my help.
-Why this works: This method works because over my years of experience in tutoring, I have realized that many of the issues that students face are self-inflicted. By this, I mean that many of the issues with learning stem from an innate lack of confidence in themselves to grasp what they currently do not understand. Through this tried and true method, this subconscious pessimism can be broken by leading them through the lesson carefully and allowing them to discover the answers on their own, with my supervision in the lesson. I will not give them answers; I will help them find them. When they do, their confidence grows and leads to a greater willingness to make mistakes and learn without dissuading them at all :)
