About David
I am a Biology/Chemistry College Professor on summer break. I have a BSc.H in Molecular Biology and Genetics. I served as an Army Medic and bring my medical experiences to aid in teaching these subjects. My favourite aspect of teaching is creating a spark of wonder at how incredibly mind-blowing reality is when we take a deeper look at the ordinary. My second favourite aspect of teaching is helping people to realize that with a little work anyone can grasp science.

In my classes I prefer to incorporate hands on learning when applicable. When that lacks I like to help to create a network of ideas to improve recall of subject details and improve problem solving skills. In order to do this I typically bring concepts down to a real world metaphor, or funny comparison to help students remember these concepts.
When I am tutoring I initially try to understand where a student is struggling in a given topic. Having the student describe the issue often reveals certain issues with a topic. This is typically a missed comprehension of pervious material. Occasionally it can be as simple as a misunderstanding of a specific aspect of the topic.
When tutoring biology or organic/biochem, given the incredible amount of memorization that must go into learning the language, multitude terms, and processes, I have a number of memorization technique which I incorporate to aid students in learning terms, and names. I also use a number of devices for memorizing processes such as glycolysis or large amounts of complex information like the amino acids (with structures, names, 3 letter and 1 letter abbreviations, polarity, etc)
