About Harrison
Hi, I’m Harrison, a clarinet tutor based in Northmead offering online and in-person lessons for school students. I began learning the clarinet in primary school and have been involved in school, community, and youth ensembles for several years. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a strong understanding of how clarinet playing fits into school band programs and how students can improve steadily with the right guidance and practice habits. I enjoy tutoring because I like helping students understand their music and feel more confident in their playing. I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress at their own pace. I work mainly with beginner and intermediate school-level students and focus on building strong fundamentals, clear practice routines, and a positive attitude towards learning music.

My lessons are structured but flexible, and are tailored to each student’s level and goals. I work closely with school band students, using their current repertoire as a foundation while also building the technical and musical skills needed to improve overall playing.
Lessons typically include:
• work on school band repertoire and ensemble music
• tone production, embouchure, and breath control
• scales, finger coordination, and articulation
• rhythm and clapping exercises to improve timing
• musical expression, phrasing, and dynamics
• basic music theory explained in a clear, practical way
I focus on helping students understand why they are playing something a certain way, not just copying notes. Clear practice goals are set each lesson so students know exactly what to work on during the week.
My aim is to help students build confidence, develop good practice habits, and make steady progress alongside their school music program.
