About Patrick
I have tutored primary schoolchildren maths and volunteered to support school-organised revision/catch-up sessions for secondary students whilst at sixth-form. I have also provided one to one maths and reading sessions for children who have learning difficulties.
I independently studied Economics and History at IGCSE Level as my school did not provide lessons but permitted me to take the exams as a candidate of the school. Similarly, I self-studied the AS Level Biology syllabus with my sixth-form providing support for practicals, as they would only offer formal biology lessons the year after I took the exam.
As a consequence of living abroad and moving places a lot, the majority of my classmates and colleagues live in different countries. Nonetheless many still reach out to me for help, to cross-check or to discuss as they know I am a patient, open and would go out of my way to help. These experiences has made me extremely comfortable with providing support fully online.

The first lesson is the most crucial stage for tutors, as it provides me the best opportunity to understand your goals, strengths and things you wish to improve on. Having moved abroad a lot, I have become a very adaptable person and is welcome to change. Different students have different learning styles, and it is important for me to discover and adjust to these early on in the process. Once this is established, a rough plan and lesson structure can be tailored specifically for the student.
Particularly for GCSE and A Level students, once the concepts have been fully understood it is important that they be seen within an examination context to allow them to build confidence and familiarty with what is being asked of them.
