About Kyla

Hi! I’m Kyla, a children’s tutor and life coach with a passion for helping kids build confidence, focus, and a love of learning. I hold a Bachelor’s in Children’s Studies and a Diploma in Business Administration, and I have extensive experience supporting children in one-to-one and small group settings through tutoring, coaching, and educational programs.

I take a calm, patient, and personalized approach to teaching. I adapt lessons to each child’s learning style, strengths, and pace, using interactive and hands-on techniques that make learning engaging and enjoyable. My goal is not only to help students succeed academically, but also to help them feel capable, motivated, and confident in themselves.

I have experience working with children of all abilities and backgrounds, and I pride myself on being professional, reliable, and approachable. I’m excited to support your child’s learning journey and help them reach their full potential in a fun and encouraging environment.

My Tutoring Approach
Teaching Methodology and Techniques:
I take a child-centred and personalized approach to tutoring. Every student is unique, so I adapt lessons to their learning style, attention span, and interests. I use a mix of hands-on activities, visual aids, guided practice, and positive reinforcement to help children stay engaged and build confidence. I also integrate short movement or brain breaks when needed to help children focus and retain information.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
Each session is structured but flexible to meet the student’s needs:

Warm-up / Check-in (5–10 min): Review previous work, set goals for the lesson, and build a positive, calm learning mindset.

Main Learning Activity (20–30 min): Focused tutoring on a specific subject or skill (reading, writing, math, homework, or study strategies) using interactive, hands-on methods.

Practice / Application (10–15 min): Reinforce the skill through guided practice or games, encouraging independence.

Reflection & Wrap-Up (5 min): Review progress, give positive feedback, and set a simple goal for the next session.

I combine educational knowledge, real-world experience with children, and confidence-building techniques to create lessons that are effective and enjoyable. I focus not only on academic success but also on helping children feel capable, motivated, and confident in their learning. Who My Lessons Are For:
My tutoring is ideal for children in elementary school (ages 5–12) who need extra support with homework, foundational skills, focus, or confidence in learning. I can work with students individually or in small groups, and lessons are tailored to their specific needs, learning pace, and strengths.

Hourly Rate: $21/hr (Milton average is $23/hr)
Package Options:

2 sessions per week: $40/hr equivalent

5-session package: $100 (custom schedule)

Additional Notes:

Flexible scheduling available for after school or weekend sessions

First lesson includes a brief assessment and goal-setting session at the regular hourly rate
