About Sophie
I'm a young adult on a gap year that is looking to develop my tutoring experience before I start my degree. I have a passion for teaching and working with children including past experience tutoring small groups in guitar and tutoring in academic subjects including mathematics and science. I strive for inclusivity and nurturing long-lasting enjoyment of playing in my lessons.

My lessons develop foundational skills required for exceptional all-around beginner guitar playing. I structure lessons based on comprehension of:
- Chord knowledge
- Reading tab and notation
- Picking and Fingerstyle techniques
- Basic music theory.
My sessions are 45 minutes long for children aged 7-13 years old. Previous tutoring experience includes 6 months of tutoring secondary school students at Glendowie College. As a guitarist, my skill ranges from playing rock genres to classical fingerstyle and composition.
A few of my prior roles include:
- Lead guitarist of a 2025 Glendowie College school production of 'Grease'
- Achieving excellence in several NCEA guitarist solo performances
- Semi-finalist of Rockquest 2023 as lead guitarist of casual rock band
- Lead guitarist of Glendowie College Jazz Band in 2022 and 2023
