I am an Analytical Chemist with a passion to help students see the benefits and fun in learning Chemistry and Maths. What I hear a lot about Chemistry is that it is very hard, but since progressing through my Masters’ degree, completing my PhD and teaching undergraduates in the process, it is clear to me that when Chemistry is broken down to simple concepts, models and explanations, it becomes fun to learn and it is fascinating to notice Chemistry occurring around you every day. I believe that I am a good tutor because I have experienced many stages of the learning process, from secondary school all the way to postgraduate. Therefore at some point in time, I have probably asked most of the questions that students now have about this subject. Regarding mathematics, many students struggle with the methodological thought-process of showing their work, and my teaching process involves helping students to think through the process of what a problem is asking, and to simplify it to bring them to the final conclusion, instead of seeing the question as a huge mountain that is hard to climb. This approach also has applications in day-to-day life, including budgeting, problem solving, and other subjects such as science, business and economics.
