About Yusuf

Hi, I'm Yusuf. I'm a final year Chemical Engineering student at London South Bank University on an IChemE accredited degree, and I use maths and chemistry every single day, both in my studies and in my work as a lab technician at Element Materials Technology.

I got an 8 in GCSE Maths and a 7 in GCSE Chemistry, so I remember exactly where students tend to get stuck, and I know how to get past it.

From 2018 to 2021 I volunteered as a teacher, running weekly classes of up to 15 students. That taught me to be patient, to explain things in more than one way, and to keep going until it properly clicks. I'm friendly and calm, and I want every student to leave a lesson feeling more confident than when they started.

About the lesson

Lessons cover GCSE Chemistry (combined and separate science, Foundation and Higher, all main exam boards) and KS3 Science. Each lesson is an hour.

In the first lesson I find out where you are and which topics feel shaky. Then we work through them step by step, from atomic structure and bonding to moles, rates and electrolysis, making sure you understand the ideas rather than just memorising facts. I put a lot of focus on exam technique: tackling calculation questions, wording six mark answers, learning the required practicals and practising with real past papers and mark schemes.

I teach at weekends (Saturday and Sunday), online or in person within about 10 miles of Ash, covering Aldershot, Farnborough, Guildford, Camberley, Woking and nearby. I'll set a little practice between lessons and keep parents updated on progress.

I’ve known Yusuf personally for several years, and I can confidently say he is someone I would highly recommend on Superprof. He is patient, reliable, and very easy to communicate with, which makes learning with him comfortable and motivating. Yusuf has a clear and structured teaching style, and he always takes the time to explain things in a way that suits the individual learner. He is encouraging, professional, and genuinely invested in helping others improve and succeed. I would strongly recommend Yusuf to anyone looking for a supportive and knowledgeable tutor.
