About Philip

I am a Certified Accent Reduction Specialist and professional English communication instructor who has taught international learners since 2011. My work focuses on accent reduction, American English pronunciation, conversational fluency and the communication skills that help professionals speak with greater clarity and confidence.
My interest in the human voice began early. My mother, a highly educated corporate administrator, insisted that I develop clear North American speech, and I became an accomplished reader and speller. Later, while working as a special education aide in my city’s public school system, I discovered speech-language pathology and the practical
value of guided speech development. At the University of New Mexico, I studied journalism and speech communication. I was selected for an internship with New Mexico’s largest radio station, where I read news on-air. That combination of communication, broadcasting, education and speech training eventually led to the work I do today: helping ESL learners develop clearer, more natural and more effective American English.
I am a native American English speaker residing in Bogotá, Colombia, and I work with learners from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds. If you are ready to improve the sound, style and effectiveness of your spoken English, I invite you to schedule an introductory consultation.

About the lesson

My classes are individually tailored to your pronunciation, fluency and professional-communication goals. We begin with a Conversation-First diagnostic: a natural, focused discussion that allows me to hear how you currently use English and identify the features that will make the greatest difference in your speech. From there, I build a practical training plan that may include American English vowel and consonant production, word stress, sentence stress, rhythm, intonation, linking, rate control, vocabulary, grammar, collocations and conversational organization. The objective is not to erase your identity. It is to make your English clearer, more natural and easier for others to understand. Lessons combine explanation, guided correction, targeted repetition, corrective reading and realistic conversation. I also help clients prepare workplace presentations, interviews, meetings and special projects. My principal areas of experience include aviation, business process outsourcing and call centers, hospitality, logistics, corporate training and government-related work.
Students should have at least a strong A2 / emerging B1 level of English so that we can work productively through conversation. More advanced learners are welcome, including professionals who already communicate well but want greater precision, control and confidence.
