About Amanda

Hello! My name is Amanda, and I am a Business & Financial Mathematics student at Wilfrid Laurier University with a strong passion for mathematics, problem-solving, and helping others learn. Through my studies and experience supporting students, I have developed strong analytical, communication, and teaching skills that allow me to explain challenging concepts in a clear and approachable way.

I am a patient, organized, and dedicated tutor who believes that every student can succeed with the right guidance and support. Having recently completed many of the courses that middle school and high school students are currently taking, I understand the challenges they face and can explain concepts from a relatable perspective. I enjoy helping students build confidence in their abilities while developing strong problem-solving and study skills.

My goal is not only to help students improve their grades but also to help them to become more proactive independent learners. I strive to create a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges at their own pace.

About the lesson

My teaching goals are centered on building understanding and confidence. Rather than simply showing students how to get the answer, I focus on helping them understand why a method works so they can apply it independently to new problems. I adapt each lesson to the student's learning style, strengths, and areas for improvement.

A typical lesson begins with a review of previous concepts and any questions the student may have. We then work through new material step by step, followed by guided practice and independent problem-solving. Throughout the lesson, I encourage students to ask questions and actively engage with the material.

What sets me apart is my patient and supportive approach, combined with my recent experience studying mathematics, economics, finance, and business at the university level. Because I have recently completed many of the courses my students are taking, I understand common challenges and can explain difficult concepts in a relatable and straightforward way.

My lessons are designed for middle school students, high school students, and anyone looking for additional support in mathematics, algebra, functions, calculus, introductory economics, and related subjects. Whether you are looking to improve your grades, prepare for an exam, or build confidence in your abilities, I am committed to helping you reach your goals.
