About Trevor
I am a biomedical engineering master’s student at Northwestern University and a researcher in the Rivnay Lab, where I study conductive biomaterials for use in medical implants. I also have a strong background in teamwork and discipline from competing as a Division I lacrosse player. In addition, I have extensive tutoring and mentoring experience helping students work through challenging math, science, and engineering material.
As a tutor, I aim to be patient, organized, and approachable while still pushing students to understand the reasoning behind each problem. I have experience explaining technical concepts in multiple ways, helping students prepare for exams, and building problem-solving skills rather than relying on memorization. My goal is to create a professional and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and leave each session with a stronger understanding of the material.

I focus on making difficult concepts feel manageable by breaking them into clear, logical steps and adapting explanations to how each student learns best.
My teaching approach combines guided problem solving, practice for classroom situations, such as quizzes or tests, and visual explanations that gradually increase in difficulty so students build both confidence and independence.
I begin my lessons by finding where a student is struggling, and then clearly and concisely reviewing the underlying concept. I then work through an example, explain the reasoning behind each step, and have the student solve similar problems with less and less guidance.
I mainly work with middle school and high school students studying math, physics, chemistry, or introductory engineering subjects. I can help with homework, exam preparation, concept review, and building stronger problem-solving skills.
