About Tyler
Hi! I’m a biology educator who loves creating those ‘lightbulb moments’ when a concept suddenly clicks. My journey in teaching has taken me from managing BTEC Level 3 courses, to Head of Biology at a top London 11–18 school, to my current role as an A-level biology lecturer at one of the best performing sixth forms in the UK. 20% of my students achieved an A* last year, and 51% A*-A. Along the way, I’ve examined AQA and EdExcel papers, giving me a real insider view on what examiners are looking for.
Please see my Superprof UK profile for reviews and recommendations https://www.superprof.co.uk/biology-lecturer-aqa-examiner-grad-from-university-nottingham-trained-teach-ucl-teach-level-biology-but-have-experience.html
Part of my role includes supporting students with UCAS and UniFrog applications to top universities, so I am happy to support A level tutees with this too.
I’m also part of Imperial College London’s Education Advisory Board for Climate Education and Student Wellbeing, which keeps me connected to the latest thinking on science education, sustainability, and supporting students in thriving both academically and personally. I love bringing this real-world, cutting-edge perspective into lessons so what we cover is memorable, relevant, and exciting.

I teach in a friendly and engaging way because I know learning sticks best when you feel comfortable exploring ideas. Every lesson is tailored to how you learn, not how everyone else learns. I mix discussion, visual diagrams, active problem-solving with real exam Q examples, and real-world applications so that concepts really sink in.
I also encourage a flipped learning approach—review the material beforehand so we can focus on:
Exam technique and the language examiners want to see
Targeting top grades with precision
Deepening understanding of tricky concepts
I can help with:
Key concepts for GCSE Science / A-level Biology (5+ years teaching experience)
Coursework support for BTEC students
Exam preparation and strategy (from my examiner experience)
Advanced topics: developmental biology, neuroscience, anatomy, physiology, genetics
Above all, I want lessons to be memorable and confidence-boosting. I listen to how you feel you learn best and adapt so you leave each session ready to tackle exams—and enjoy the process along the way.
