About Alex

Completed diplomas: BSc Graduate in Biomedical Science. MSc in research Chemistry/Physics (Imaging). Currently studying Graduate Medicine. Provided 1000s of classes over many years to help students achieve their academic goals. I have also worked in a number of science industries and am more than happy to share insight from my experiences!

About the lesson

Classes are very flexible. The primary goal is to understand the material well enough to apply it and commit it to long-term memory. Secondly, we work towards exam performance by applying the format equated with the top marks for the student's particular exam board. Below is an expected timeline for a 60-minute A-level class for a recurrent student: 00-05 Define aims. 05-10 Review exam-style questions. 10-30 Work through core concept (via virtual whiteboard, PowerPoint and discussion). 30-45 Answer exam-style questions. 45-55 Mark and resolve. 55-60 Summary. Preparation materials are provided. Short 10-15 minute HW is typically set after each class. One-off classes can be shortened to simply the 'concept' segment of the class. I am comfortable modifying classes for students with learning disabilities, such as ADHD or dyslexia, however, this needs to be discussed prior to the first class.

Alex is an excellent tutor, he helped me with organic chemistry during first year of pharmacy school and with his help I got a first class mark in chemistry.
