About Zayn
Hi, I'm Zayn. I'm studying BSc Economics (even though I didn't take Economics for GCSE or A-level). I liked Maths, but not enough to do a Maths degree on its own.
Currently, I study at the University of Manchester. I sat my GCSE and A-level exams at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys where I obtained the following grades:
GCSE: Biology - 9, Chemistry - 9, Maths - 8
A-level: Biology - A, Chemistry - A, Maths - A
I'm a very patient person. The focus is on your learning and understanding - I won't act as a normal school teacher by setting you unnecessarily tight deadlines and speaking overly formal, because that won't boost grades. If you don't understand something, I'll make sure to explain in a way that you do understand, even if it takes a few tries.
Having hobbies is important too! In my free time I enjoy Muay Thai, football, and going to the gym.

Each student learns differently, so all lessons are adapted to cater for this. After the trial lesson, I will evaluate which areas of your learning may need attention and compile the necessary notes in order to act on this in the future. Whether that be organisation, understanding questions, or just more hours memorising certain parts of the specification. Following the trial lesson, a rough lesson would look like this:
For biology and chemistry, we'll start things off by getting the concept properly understood first — there is no point rushing to questions if the foundation is ignored. Then we shift into past-paper style questions so you get used to how GCSE examiners actually phrase things, since that is often where marks get lost even when the knowledge is there. (I used to struggle with this a lot).
For maths, it's more hands-on. We will do a quick run through of the method or formula, then straight into practice, ramping up in difficulty as we go. Of course, if understanding the method takes longer, it is perfectly fine to skip the questions and pick them up in the following lesson once the methods are confidently understood.
I teach all GCSE students - whether you are aiming to pass or reach for the very top and push towards that grade 9.
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have!
