Welcome! I'm Haven, a dedicated and experienced tutor in Math and Science.

As a tutor, my goal is not only to help you understand difficult concepts but to build your confidence in your ability to succeed. With years of experience working with middle school, high school, and college-level students, I bring both expertise and a passion for teaching to every lesson. I understand that learning math and science can sometimes feel challenging, but I’m here to guide you with personalized, step-by-step support tailored to your unique learning style.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my goal is to make learning as engaging, clear, and accessible as possible. I adapt my approach based on the student's level, needs, and learning style, aiming not only to help them understand the material but also to build their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject.

I focus on building a strong foundation in core concepts rather than just memorizing formulas or procedures. Understanding the "why" behind methods helps students apply their knowledge to a broader range of problems.

I encourage active participation through problem-solving, questioning, and discussions, break down complex problems into smaller, manageable steps, and connect lessons to real-world examples or practical applications.

A typical lesson plan would include reviewing key concepts or problems from the previous lesson, introduce new concepts using clear explanations, analogies, and visuals when possible, allowing the student to work on independent practice problems, with my support as needed, then at the end of the lesson, we review what was covered and clarify any lingering questions.

I adapt my lessons to fit each student's unique needs and learning style, whether they’re a visual learner, need more hands-on activities, or learn best through discussions. Also, rather than just helping students solve problems, I focus on ensuring they understand the underlying principles and can approach new problems independently. I know that math and science can be challenging subjects, and I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn at their own pace!

I primarily work with middle and high school students and can assist with both traditional schoolwork as well as standardized test prep. Despite this, I am open to working with college students.
