About Sofia Love

Hi, I’m Sofia! I’m a UC Berkeley senior who loves writing, working with kids, and helping students discover what they’re capable of. As a volunteer BUILD literacy mentor, a tutor, and babysitter, I’ve worked with students from first grade through high school, bringing patience, kindness, and a sense of fun to learning. As a Writing Associate at Thinktango, I support students with writing and college counseling. I also publish on Substack, exploring golf, fashion, and identity. Writing is something I love, and I enjoy helping students find their own voice, whether they’re creating a story or sharing their experiences in a college essay. I’ve played competitive golf since childhood, trained at IMG Academy, and still play at a high level. Golf has taught me persistence and how to break a big challenge into manageable steps, lessons I bring to tutoring. My goal is for your child to feel comfortable asking questions, excited to learn, and proud of their progress. I take their goals seriously and make our time together encouraging, creative, and fun!

From scientific research papers to imaginative fantasy stories, I offer personalized reading and writing support that makes learning engaging and approachable. My specialty is helping students craft college essays that showcase their personality, experiences, and ambitions, all while preserving their own voice. I also offer guidance through the college application process, helping students feel more organized and confident. With experience tutoring students from first grade through senior year of high school, I tailor each session to your goals, interests, and learning style. If you can think it, we can find the words! Together, we’ll build your skills, make room for creativity, and create writing you’re proud of.
