About Caleb

Hi! I'm a recent graduate of Penn State university with a degree in aerospace engineering. Throughout my career, I've seen my peers and myself struggle with "math for math's sake" where concepts are hardly grounded in real world application. My goal is to take these concepts and mold them into tools that students can actually see the use of in their present or future lives! Through providing positive feedback, relatable experience, and enthusiastic energy, students will equip themselves with effective tools in their math/physics toolbox.

My experience leading college classrooms, working with my two elementary age siblings, and providing educational plans for adults with disabilities provides me with a diverse background of interaction through all ages. Using this experience, I am confident that I can provide your student a positive and enthusiastic environment to master a subject that many find to be mundane. Through using examples grounded in reality and indicating how concepts relate to the rocket science of my background, I aim to make mathematics more than just numbers but a reflection of the inner workings of the world!

About the lesson

My lessons follow an adaptive explain, demonstrate, implement style. First, the concept(s) for the session are laid out to give the student a preview of the objectives of the lesson followed by an explanation of the concept and its uses. Once each concept is thoroughly explained, at least one example of implementation of the concept is completed to give the student an idea of what utilizing the concept looks like. Finally, the student is tasked with implementing the concept themselves with problems varying in difficulty and quantity, tailored to the performance and goals of the student.

As a tutor, my goal is to provide your student with the tools to succeed in their courses and engage with math in a grounded and fun way. My lessons are mainly tailored towards high-school or advanced middle school students struggling with calculus I or II, pre-calc, arithmetic, and advanced concepts such as calc III, matrices, etc. for older students.
