About Brooke
Looking back to my high school days, I took my first calculus class ever, AB Calculus, and it was extremely difficult. No matter what I did, I felt like I couldn't grasp an understanding of the basic skills it took to succeed in the course. Now, as an accounting student at The University of Tampa, I have excelled in Calculus 1 and Calculus for Business which is something my high school self would have never imagined. I understand how challenging these courses are because I've experienced a struggle with the subject and therefore I am able to help students understand the material and succeed. I understand that it doesn't come easy for many people, including myself, and I've learned that patience and support while helping others learn calculus is the key to their success.

As a calculus tutor, my primary goal is to help my students develop a strong understanding of calculus concepts and problem-solving skills. From experience, before diving into complex calculus problems, it is essential that individuals have a solid understanding of concepts such as limits, derivatives, and integrals. So, spending time reviewing the basics and providing practice problems to help students build their foundational knowledge is where I choose to begin my lessons. Then, I like to focus on problem-solving. It is crucial to provide plenty of practice problems to help students build their problem-solving skills. I do this by using visual aids as calculus can often be challenging to visualize, and by starting with straightforward problems and gradually increasing the difficulty as students become more confident in their skills. I strongly believe that my patience, flexibility, and responsiveness to students' individual needs make me an effective calculus tutor. By using a variety of teaching methods and lesson plans, I can help my students develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in AB calculus, calculus 1, or calculus for business.
