About Jaya
As a thirteen-year-old, many may think that I do not know enough about writing to tutor. This is incorrect. Being a teenager growing up in a world where you feel like you have to always be perfect, writing is something that is an outlet for me, a sanctuary. This may seem contradictory as writing is a precise art of spelling and grammar and hundreds of little intricacies. However, while the letters and placement and grammar may be perfect, the story doesn't have to be. You can tell any story you want without the underlying awkward sense of saying it. I have experienced grief that I did not know how to deal with numerous times and every single time, writing has been a contender as to what has gotten me out. So, I may just be a thirteen-year-old with a lot of feelings, but I know what to do with them and how to convey them and that is all because of writing.

Hi! My name is Jaya Singh! I am a thirteen-year-old writing tutor who sees writing as an outlet and a powerful way to express yourself with honesty and integrity in a rapidly changing world. I will tutor students in Kindergarten–6th grade, using personalized lessons, breaks, and rewards to create a supportive, non-stressful environment. My experience with cousins of all ages has helped me connect with children, and being young allows me to understand my students more closely and adapt quickly to their needs. Most importantly, proceeds from my tutoring will go to 826 National, a writing-based charity, because I want everyone to experience the magic of writing.
