About Kayley

I am an enthusiastic research scientist near to obtaining my doctorate in brain tumour research and tissue engineering. The nature of my work is very interdisciplinary, which means I have deep knowledge across a range of scientific subjects which I am comfortable teaching. I have been through my fair share of tough examinations, assignments and practical classes and believe I will be able to help and support in an empathetic way. I am passionate about finding ways to deliver difficult material in an easy-to-understand way. For the last year I have been teaching at The Manchester College part-time as a science tutor on a 2-year Pharmacy Technician course (Level 3), but I support undergraduate students on a near-daily basis within and outside of the laboratories with a range of difficulties they are currently experiences (from preparing for exams to structuring their thesis).

About the lesson

Happy to be flexible with hours and lesson structure. Typically I'd recommend 45-50 minutes but this can be tailored to your specific needs.

I have experience as a science tutor at The Manchester College teaching BTEC Pharmacy (Level 3) for the past academic year which involved writing lesson plans, delivering scientific content, setting assignments and marking to OFSTED and specific learning qualification standards.
I also have experience helping and supporting students at undergraduate level to understand complicated scientific principles, conduct their own experiments, thesis advice etc.

My academic qualifications include Medical Biology (BSc) from the University of Huddersfield, a first class Master's degree in Molecular Medicine from the University of Leeds and I am near to completing my PhD dissertation which has involved 3 years of conducting novel brain tumour research in a laboratory setting.
