About Hannah
Hello, my name’s Hannah and I’ll be going into my 4th year of Medicine at the University of Leeds. I’m currently doing a separate degree, specifically in Anatomy, for the year at the University of Dundee.
I was really fortunate to have had a positive experience at school and largely enjoyed going to lessons. Thinking back to school, it is the lively teachers who were friendly, approachable and enthusiastic about their subject that stick in my mind. I really appreciate and now recognise the care they took over my education and want to have a similar impact on someone else’s experience.
Whilst it is important that we cover the specific subject, I also want to be a source of information about other areas of education and my general experience of attending university, should they be interested. Science and maths are important subjects to me but I also enjoy playing the piano, painting and going hiking and climbing.

When previously tutoring primary and GCSE students math and sciences, I really enjoyed creating an engaging and interactive learning environment. It is important to me that my students feel comfortable in my sessions and able to get involved.
I use my iPad to deliver online lessons which allows me to draw diagrams, explain concepts step-by-step and is more interesting for students to follow. I like to define learning aims at the beginning of each session to add structure and focus, but I’m also curious to hear students’ personal objectives and cover these too. I include questions throughout my sessions to continually test students’ knowledge and identify any gaps in that day’s learning.
Effective learning requires confidence and perseverance. As a tutor I want to bring out these qualities in students and be a supportive figure. I am a university student and can therefore offer an invaluable insight into my own experiences in education, tips that worked for me and opportunities in further education.
