About David
My teacher was Leonard Bernstein, one of the greatest musicians ever born in the U.S. He was not just an amazing teacher, but of course the leader of the New York Philharmonic, and a fantastic composer of scores like WEST SIDE STORY (which I was fortunate enough to be the editor on!).
What "Lenny" taught me was this: inspire your students and encourage them to be true to their inner voice and you can't go wrong. That's always at the core of my teaching and my approach to composition.
I very much look forward to hearing from you and listening to your inner voice!
As a composer, I've written commissions for the American Symphony Orchestra, New York City Ballet, Paul Taylor and Twyla Tharp Dance, just to name some. My music has been played around the world by orchestras and musicians in amazing cities like Paris, Dresden and New Dehli. I've also conducted my music in theaters and venues like JFK Center in D.C. and City Center in NYC.
I love to drop knowledge and also love learning from my students!
I've been teaching since I was a student myself at college, helping younger students in high school find their voice.
I have a Bachelors of Music degree from the Hartt College of Music and I studied and worked for Leonard Bernstein for many years.
