About Alex

My name is Alex, and I am a magna cum laude graduate of Columbia University. For the past five years, I have been tutoring and mentoring students from middle school to college, specializing in standardized test preparation (SAT, PSAT, SSAT, ACT, APs, Regents, etc.) essay writing, and homework management (nearly every subject). I have also helped many students with college and prep school admissions essays who have gone on to attend some of the world's most prestigious institutions.

I focus on forging lasting, nurturing relationships with students. Each student has a unique approach to learning, and I personalize curricula to each student's individual needs. My aim is not only to teach the material but also to give my students the learning tools to be successful in their future academic pursuits. As a result, I hope to inspire within my students the desire to learn beyond what’s expected and have confidence in tackling the road ahead.

I have taught:

ACT/SAT/PSAT/SSAT/SAT IIs

All levels of English, including AP Lang and Lit

AP Calculus AB and BC

AP World and AP US History

AP Chem and AP Bio

AP Spanish

AP Psych and AP Econ

About the lesson

I have worked with students with all kinds of learning methods. In addition, I have worked with many with learning differences, and I am experienced in helping all of my students reaching their fullest potential.

Alex knew how to meet my daughter where she was. It was important for her to have support and we appreciated how calm he kept things. He made her AP History prep seem manageable.

I thought I could prep for the SAT all on my own, but my scores just weren't improving no matter how much I studied. So I decided to reach out to Alex. He really helped me figure out what I was doing wrong and showed me how to fix it. Thanks to him I felt way more prepared and would definitely recommend him to anyone

My son deals with processing issues and Alex was patient in helping him understand the ACT English passages. It also turned out he could teach him APs too, which was nice having just one tutor for everything. Highly recommend!

For a long time I just thought I was bad at math or it just never clicked. When my mom got me a tutor I was definitely skeptical. But honestly meeting with him was a total game-changer. When he explained things to me, I actually understood! Without him, I don't think I would've survived precalc.

At first, I tried prepping for the SAT on my own, but I kept having trouble getting in the high 700s. I didn't really want a tutor, but meeting with Alex really helped me understand what I was doing wrong and what to look out for/keep in mind. Also helped with testing anxiety. Definitely recommend!

Alex helped my daughter prep for the SAT. Because my daughter deals with learning differences, Alex really took the time explaining everything thoroughly and gave her strategies for dealing with time management. Highly recommend him!
