About Jo

Hello! I am the Jo the Dragon Writer, and welcome to my page! My pronouns are they/them/their.

I am an easy-going dragon in my mid-20s, who is non-judgemental, kind, and nurturing. I specialize in grammar, spelling, literature, creative writing, technical writing, essay writing, and honestly all things writing related! (While it isn't listed, I also am an Algebra tutor for middle school - college students!) What I am BEST at is translating "academic jargon" into regular people words!

I am an English Creative Writing major, and l studied essay writing, copy editing, and poetry in the process!

While my business has only been ongoing for about a year, I have been tutoring and editing for the last 6 years. I am also currently in the process of getting my Masters in Special Education, specializing in ABA therapy.

In addition, I am also a Labor Doula, Behavioral Technician, and studying Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. On the side, I also dog walk/sit/train and nanny!

The biggest joy of working with people is getting to help them grow in ways they never thought they could. Seeing someone's face light up with understanding is so delightful!

Being able to provide a safe space for making mistakes (even the same mistake over and over), learning (making NEW mistakes and growing from them!), and for ALL questions no matter how big or small (there is truly no "dumb" question in my book) is incredibly important to me.

I have a bachelor's in English, specializing in creative writing, and have studied literature, grammar, storytelling, copy editing, the writing process, and many things beyond. I also have double-minored in Psychology (child development) and Women's Studies. I am currently in graduate school for a Master's in Special Education, specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis.

About the lesson

At the moment due to current circumstances, video calls/Google Meet is the best way for us to engage! My typical process involves an initial interview where we interview each other to make sure I am the right fit. It's super important to me that we have the best time possible, so making sure we work well together is a must! The "interview" will also involve getting to know exactly where you currently are in your learning journey and what tends to be the biggest hurdle. That way I can make sure I am addressing your needs to the best of my ability!
