About Harris

I have always excelled at maths and science throughout school, achieving top grades at both GCSE and A-Level levels, allowing me to go on to study Medicine. (which I love by the way!) I first found a passion for teaching other people when a neighbour needed some help with his maths homework. I enjoyed the idea of helping someone else to understand concepts and found it very rewarding. From there I continued tutoring other people around my village/town area. Since moving to university I have continued tutoring, but primarily online due to being away from home. Having only been through the traditional school system a few years ago, I have a good understanding of what it is like to be a 15-16-year-old student struggling with a specific subject and I feel my insight here can help to provide tuition which you will find particularly useful.

About the lesson

What I have found useful in previous tuition I have given is setting out a clear plan for the lesson whether that be getting to grips with basic algebra, revising trigonometry or battling through some practice questions that have been troubling you. One of the main things I like to implement throughout my lessons are guided practice questions followed by unassisted practice questions. I have found that this initially gives students a framework to follow, then allowing them to apply this to questions individually, reinforcing their learning.

Harris has tutored my daughter in maths for her GCSE. We highly recommend him as he is professional, kind and really knows his subject. My daughter struggled with maths questions and Harris patiently explained the topics and helped her to complete them for herself. He always made sure she was comfortable with each topic and offered to go through more questions until she felt confident. Thanks to Harris my daughter went into her GCSE with a calm and can do attitude, and we can’t thank him enough.
