About Lucy
I recently graduated with a First-Class degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Sheffield, and I start my Master's in Public Health this September.
I'm dyslexic, and I struggled in school until I learnt how I learn. Before GCSEs I was in bottom sets for everything, and no one really expected much from me academically. Once I got the right support, I went on to get straight 7s and 8s at GCSE, and A*AB at A-Level (Geography, Biology, Chemistry).
That's a big part of why I tutor now. I know what it feels like to be written off, and I've seen how much things can change with the right help at the right time.
I'm organised and structured in how I plan lessons, but I also think learning needs to be interesting and personalised to actually stick. I'm patient, I get on well with kids, and I care about helping students build real confidence, not just better grades.

I believe every child learns differently, and benefits most from a lesson plan tailored to how their mind works. When a student is struggling with a topic, it's often not about ability. They just need a fresh approach and some encouragement to rebuild their confidence. Alongside core content, I put a strong focus on exam technique and revision strategy, helping students learn how to structure their answers and manage their time under pressure.
Lessons typically run between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours, depending on the student's age, attention span, and preference.
I tutor students aged 11 to 18, across a range of levels.
I have one year of tutoring experience, alongside over four years coaching and teaching skiing to children aged 11–18 — which has given me strong skills in breaking down complex skills into manageable steps, building confidence, and adapting my teaching style to each individual.
