Writing strong essays can be a challenging journey, and it’s a skill often overlooked in formal education. I understand how frustrating this can be, and I’m here to bridge that gap. Drawing from years of experience, I’ll guide you through what professors truly look for in essays, helping you navigate this complex process with confidence and clarity.
My approach is tailored to your experience, skills, and needs. With a deep understanding of academic writing requirements and expectations, I break them down into clear, manageable concepts, helping you build a strong foundation to achieve your writing goals. From mastering general essay structure to tackling specific types of essays, I’ll support you every step of the way—from interpreting assignment requirements to drafting and editing.
I’ve worked with a wide range of students, including undergraduates across various subjects (humanities, scientific writing), graduate school applicants, and graduate students tackling theses and grant writing. I also have extensive experience teaching philosophy writing and critical argumentation. Many of my students who’ve put in the effort have secured As in their essays, and some have even completed their BAs with Honors thanks to our collaboration.
Whether you’re working on a strong university-level essay or crafting a standout application, I’ll guide you with clear, thorough explanations for every edit we make. My ultimate goal? To empower you to become a confident, independent writer.
Writing doesn’t have to feel overwhelming—let’s work together to make it your strength!

Junyi is the best TA I’ve had in the three years that I’ve been studying criminology. She excels in encouraging dialogue, providing examples, playing the devils advocate during debates, and is a selfless individual who would often sacrifice their own time to provide feedback on assignments regardless of whether they were late or not. She is also very fair in the grades she distributes, and always makes the effort to explain how grades are distributed as well as why one may receive the grade that they’ve received.
If it were not for Junyi I probably would not have had as much fun debating or writing papers for the philosophy class she TA’d for, she’d be an excellent teacher/prof.
Junyi was my TA for a philosophy course I took. She consistently went above and beyond to give detailed & constructive feedback on how to improve my writing. Overall, from the start of the semester to the end, I made big improvements not only in my writing ability but also in my critical reading & thinking abilities.
Junyi is hands down the best tutor I’ve ever had. As a communication major, I used to feel stuck at an A-, no matter how hard I tried. But with Junyi’s guidance, everything changed. She gave me practical advice—like how to structure my essays better, refine my arguments, and communicate more clearly—which helped me not only get solid A’s but almost A+ every single time. Honestly, I never thought graduating with distinction was something I could achieve, but Junyi believed in me and pushed me to believe in myself too. She’s not just an amazing tutor but also a great mentor who genuinely cares about her students. If you’re lucky enough to work with her, you’ll see what I mean.
Junyi was the TA for a philosophy course I took and was incredibly clear in her explanations, making it easy to understand what she expected from us, especially in writing strong philosophy papers. She provided detailed feedback and always encouraged us to improve, creating a welcoming and fun atmosphere where everyone's choices were respected. Her hardworking nature, genuine care for her students, and ability to make learning engaging and enjoyable are why I highly recommend her.
