Experienced English Teacher | NYS Regents Prep, Essay Writing & Personalized Instruction

I’m an experienced English educator with 12 years of teaching experience across adult education and high school. My background includes teaching English 10, 11, and 12; preparing students for academic success; and working with English language learners, students with disabilities, and advanced learners. I also serve as an English department chair.

My approach is straightforward: identify what a student needs, explain it clearly, and build the skills and confidence to succeed independently. Whether your student needs help preparing for the NYS English Regents, strengthening essay writing, improving reading comprehension, organizing ideas, or developing stronger analytical skills, I tailor each session to their goals and learning style.

I work with students at different ability levels, from those who need step-by-step support to those looking to refine their writing and earn stronger grades. I focus on practical strategies students can use in class, on exams, and in future academic work.

- Literary analysis and reading comprehension

My goal is not simply to help a student finish an assignment. It is to help them become a more capable, confident, and independent reader and writer.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on skill acquisition. Students will develop clarity in their writing, confidence in their reading analysis, and become familiar with their distinctive ways of thinking, comprehending, and expressing through explicit direct instruction and scaffolded, goal oriented, consistent practice. Lessons begin with a breakdown of the skills and modeling. From there, students receive coaching and clarification. Next they practice the skills themselves. We conclude with direct feedback and action planning next steps.
