About Jennifer

Learning English isn’t just about memorizing grammar and vocabulary, it’s about feeling comfortable enough to actually speak.
I am an experienced Canadian teacher with 15 years of elementary school teaching experience and 5 years teaching English in Japan. I’ve worked with students from different ages, backgrounds and levels, and I know that everyone learns differently.
My lessons are friendly, relaxed and encouraging. If you’re nervous about making mistakes, don’t worry, mistakes are a natural part of learning. My goal is to help you feel comfortable speaking English while gently helping you improve. We can focus on real conversation and everyday English, including travel, work, hobbies, culture, current interests and whatever you enjoy talking about. I edited some Japanese-English medical dissertations for students at Kita Kyushu Medical University when I lived in Japan. I can also help you improve pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading and overall fluency.
If you’re a Japanese learner, my experience living and teaching in Japan means I understand some of the particular challenges Japanese students can face when learning to speak English. Whether you are a beginner, an intermediate learner looking to become more fluent, or simply someone who wants more opportunities to practice speaking, I’d love to help you reach your English goals.
