About Yolanda
Teaching language to newcomers actually began as a quiet hobby that grew into my primary vocation. Navigating the nuances of English is challenging when you are also trying to find your footing in a new country.
I serve a wide range of students including Grade 3 kids and adults seeking connection through shared communication. Over 11 years of practice, I have learned that being neurodivergent-affirming creates a safer space for everyone to participate.
My background in music often helps me explain the rhythmic patterns of English to those who find traditional grammar drills difficult. Working with IELTS candidates or TOEFL aspirants requires a direct and clear approach that respects your time and effort. I have supported many individuals as they reach for their personal goals in Canada.
It feels important to acknowledge that this process is rarely linear for any student. Let us build a path forward together that honors your unique style of processing information.

Sometimes the hardest part of learning a language is realizing you are stuck on a specific phrasal verb or writing structure. Grammar and syntax should feel like a puzzle that we solve systematically using my diagnostic level test before we begin our work.
Reading comprehension and listening skills improve quickly when we focus on the specific hurdles you face in your daily life. Because of my background in music, I often use auditory patterns to help students master conversational fluency and complex phrasing.
Students working toward IELTS or TOEFL preparation find that my direct feedback helps them prepare for the pressure of testing environments. Writing skills are treated as a craft that we refine through consistent practice rather than abstract theory. I genuinely enjoy watching a student move from confusion to clarity during our time together. We finish our sessions with a sense of accomplishment that feels earned.
