About Ethan
Hey there!
I am a practising Software Engineering Apprentice based in London, working daily in a high-stakes environment on live, production-ready software.
Securing a competitive engineering apprenticeship required demonstrating strong technical aptitude and clear communication, skills I now bring directly to our tutoring sessions to help you succeed.
Because I work alongside senior engineers every day, my teaching focuses entirely on modern, industry-standard practices. I do not just teach you how to pass a test, I teach you how to think, problem-solve, and write clean code like a professional.
Why choose me as your tutor?
Active Industry Knowledge: I deal with real-world software challenges daily, keeping my knowledge fresh and highly practical.
Empathetic & Patient Approach: I was a beginner myself not long ago. I remember exactly where the pain points are and how to explain complex concepts without confusing technical jargon.
Reliable & Structured Professionalism: I manage strict professional deadlines at work, meaning our lessons will always be highly organised, punctual, and tailored exactly to your goals.
Whether you are struggling with your GCSE/A-Level coursework, navigating a university module, or trying to build your very first personal coding project, I am here to provide a structured, stress-free environment to build your confidence.
Let’s book our first session and get you coding with confidence!

I use a hands-on, "code-along" approach to teaching. I do not rely on boring slides or theory-heavy lectures. Instead, we'll cover concepts, identify weak points and get coding!
My lessons typically follow a simple three-step structure:
- The Breakdown: We look at a concept (like loops or APIs) using simple, real-world analogies.
- Live Build: We write the code together, line by line, sharing screens so you see exactly how it works.
- Independent Fix: I give you a small challenge to complete on your own, helping you debug it live so you build independent problem-solving confidence.
My standard lesson is 60 minutes long.
I've found this to be the perfect sweet spot for keeping focus without causing coding fatigue.
First 10 minutes: Review previous concepts and troubleshoot any homework blockers.
Next 35 minutes: Introduce the new concept and build a mini-project or feature together.
Final 15 minutes: Student independent challenge and interactive Q&A.
Qualifications & Real-World Experience:
I am a Software Engineering Apprentice working in London.
I write production-ready code every day in a professional environment. Because I am actively learning and working alongside senior developers, I know exactly what modern coding skills are relevant right now.
I remember exactly what it feels like to be a total beginner, meaning I can explain complex tech concepts without using confusing jargon.
Due to my recent graduation, I'm also very recent and up to date on the curriculum, so you can easily relate to me (as we'll likely be around the same age too!)
I specialise in teaching complete beginners and intermediate students.
My lessons are ideal for:
- GCSE & A-Level Computer Science students needing help with course programming projects.
- University/Bootcamp students who are feeling overwhelmed and need concepts explained simply.
- Adult career-changers looking to learn their very first programming language.
