About Donovan

Although I’m 15 I’ve spent years developing my skills as a drummer through practice, performances, and marching band. I enjoy helping other drummers grow by breaking down difficult concepts into simple steps that are easy to understand. I’m patient, supportive, and always make sure lessons are a comfortable place to learn and ask questions. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to improve your jazz drumming, I’ll help you build confidence, strengthen your technique, and reach your goals at your own pace. A lot of drum set beginners are pretty young and a lot of beginners would prefer someone around their age to teach them drum set so they can understand them better and help them progress quicker and more skillfully.

About the lesson

I tutor beginner to intermediate jazz drumset players who want to improve their groove, coordination, and confidence on the kit. When I teach I’m very patient and I think every young jazz drummer needs patience. A typical lesson starts with warm-ups, transitioning into rhythms, working on independence, and playing along with songs. I also give tips on technique and improvisation to help students become more comfortable behind the drumset. I try to make every lesson fun and encouraging, and I adjust each lesson to match the student’s skill level
