About Jimmy
I've always been a slow learner. Growing up in an Asian American household, you're given high expectations. And I met those expectations.
But with severe consequences. I had to work two to three times harder than other kids to get the same results. To maintain my all-honors curriculum in high school, I averaged 4 hours of sleep at night.
Years later, that contributed to crippling mental illnesses that I had to work very hard to overcome.
My struggles made me very passionate about learning how to learn. About finding the right strategies to teach people who are different. Who are bored. Who feel overwhelmed.

Writing is freaking overwhelming. That's why so many kids (and adults) don't enjoy it!
My talent is breaking down overwhelming subjects and making them digestible. I teach students how to do all the prep work necessary BEFORE the writing begins so that things flow naturally. So that writing FEELS GOOD.
I start the lesson by getting to know who you are. Everyone is different. Then, I help get your confidence and creative juices flowing with a few warm-up exercises.
After that, we will sit down and do the most important thing: understanding your audience. Who is your writing for? We will truly understand the essence of your assignment and figure out how to please your target audience.
The time we have left, we will spend on other variables: the subject matter, your logic skills, information architecture, writing structure, etc.
I don't just teach you writing; I teach you life lessons about problem-solving and strategy.
