About Logan
I'm Logan and I'm a 25-year-old writer, tutor and bookseller based in London. I teach because I think encouraging young people to engage with reading, writing and stories is a vital part of their personal development. By putting ourselves in a character's shoes, we are better able to empathise with others, especially those with whom we disagree. With my experience and qualifications (including an A in A-Level English Literature and a Masters degree in Creative Writing), I believe I can help you overcome any problems you might be having with English, whilst helping you identify what excites you about a story or character. I want to foster the sort of personal engagement with literature that the requirements of the curriculum don't always allow for.

I know English is not every child's passion, perhaps because they struggle with dyslexia or it's simply not where their interests lie. In order for them to feel like they can do well, they need to find something in the subject they can relate to. That's why I aim to encourage young people to engage with reading and writing on an emotional level first and to focus on the technical aspects second. They have to find their own personal way in to a story or theme before they can care about the difference between a metaphor and a simile. When talking about a book they're studying, for example, I'll ask them their thoughts on the story and characters before identifying literary techniques or analysing the text. I will also cater the lessons to the student's interests and weaknesses so we can be sure to focus on the areas most relevant to them. The typical length of a lesson would be 1 hour, but I am happy to be flexible on this and lead longer lessons if preferable. I can prepare lessons for secondary school pupils, GCSE and A-Level students. Qualifications and Experience - MA Creative Writing (Distinction) - Manchester Writing School - BA Theatre (1st Class Honours) - University of York - A-Level English Literature (A); GCSE English Literature (A*) and English Language (A*) - Bedford School - I have delivered creative writing workshops to primary and secondary school age children. Testimonials Mitchell Siddons, Drama teacher at Harris Academy Beckenham: ‘Students reported that they found the workshop engaging, informative and even therapeutic. We fully intend on inviting Logan in again for future cohorts to learn from.’ Antoinette Keylock, Head of Drama at Bedford School: 'Logan's rapport with the students was very good and he introduced them to some key concepts that will help them with their creative writing journey. The practical nature of the session kept the students engaged throughout.'

Logan has provided two workshops for our GCSE Drama Cohort in our Multi-Academy Trust setting, with class sizes ranging from 18-30.
Logan's workshops were insightful, curriculum-informed, and provided the students with new, exciting and pragmatic practical and theoretical approaches to writing original scripts for their Devised Theatre unit.
Logan is excellent at communication, providing all necessary documents and workshops plans in a timely manner, and responding to the workshop brief/ requirements and seeking appropriate information (e.g. student data) with enough time to ensure all queries are addressed.
I would highly recommend commissioning Logan for Drama/ English-related workshops/ seminars owing to his professionalism, pragmatic practical and theoretical approaches to the work and excellent value for money!Logan has been running creative writing courses for my company, inkhead, in a school in Sidcup. One of the Year 5 teachers emailed me to let me know how popular Logan is with the children in the club and how he has seen that the classes are benefitting their literacy. Logan is creative and is able to inspire his group to write their own stories, expand their vocabulary and learn how to plot.
