About Joanne

Hello! My name is Jo, and I am a dedicated Wits Medical School student with a strong passion for teaching and helping students reach their full academic potential. With years of tutoring experience across various grades, I have developed a patient, structured, and supportive approach that makes even the most challenging concepts feel manageable. I specialize in tutoring Mathematics from the early grades all the way to matric, as well as Physics up to Grade 10. My understanding of these subjects, combined with my medical studies, allows me to break down complex ideas into simple, relatable explanations that truly make sense. Professionalism is at the core of my work. I come prepared, organized, and committed to creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and growing at their own pace. I tailor each lesson to the student’s individual needs, ensuring they receive the guidance, practice, and feedback necessary to improve both their marks and confidence. Whether you’re looking to build a stronger foundation, catch up on challenging topics, or push yourself to achieve top results, I’m here to support you every step of the way. I look forward to helping you succeed!

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is rooted in patience, clarity, and genuine understanding. I focus on building strong foundations before moving to more complex concepts, ensuring that every student feels confident rather than overwhelmed. What makes me unique is my ability to break down difficult topics into simple, relatable explanations while adapting my teaching style to each student’s learning needs.
I am proficient in English and can comfortably teach in this language. My lessons are interactive, structured, and personalised—whether we are revising previous work, tackling new content, or building exam strategies. Students can expect clear explanations, guided practice, visual aids when necessary, and consistent feedback to track progress.
My lessons are ideal for students from primary school up to matric for mathematics, and up to grade 10 for physics. I work especially well with students who need patient, step-by-step guidance or those who may lack confidence and need foundational strengthening. My goal is not just to help students improve their marks, but to help them genuinely understand and enjoy what they’re learning.
