About Mike
Michael Lee Grimes – Educator, Artist, and Creative Leader Michael Lee Grimes is a dynamic and passionate educator with over a decade of international experience in teaching English as a Second Language and art education. Currently based in Phuket, Thailand, Michael brings a unique blend of creativity, structure, and global perspective to every classroom he enters. With a Master’s in Project Management (focused on Game Design) from Full Sail University—where he graduated as Valedictorian—and a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Indiana University Bloomington, Michael has continually bridged the gap between artistic expression and structured learning. His early career as a video game producer at Gameloft saw him managing high-profile titles such as My Little Pony, Iron Man 3, and Tank Battles, giving him strong foundations in project coordination and leadership. Since transitioning fully into education, Michael has taught students of all ages—from playful kindergarteners to professional adults—across South Korea, Japan, and Thailand. His roles have included ESL instruction using engaging methods like Jolly Phonics and the PLS system, as well as art education that combines historical context with hands-on creativity. He’s known for his innovative lesson plans, ability to connect with diverse learners, and skill in transforming classrooms into inspiring learning environments. Fluent in English and conversational in Spanish and Japanese, Michael also brings cultural sensitivity and adaptability to his teaching. Whether he’s guiding a young learner through their first English sentence or inspiring budding artists, Michael’s mission is always clear: empower students to learn with confidence, curiosity, and joy.
