About Diane

I was trained as a legal secretary but realised that my passion lay in the Arts and took up painting with a professional portrait painter as my tutor. I painted portraits professionally for 5 years then went on to experiment with different subjects from still life to landscapes. I did not get any academic qualifications but have studied with great artists for 30 years, learning different techniques from them. My background in the Arts started when I painted portraits from
Life in a hotel foyer of a holiday Resort. I then went on to participate in Workshops with various Well known artists where I learnt different techniques. I still paint professionally today and also teach weekly classes in my studio and facilitate workshops twice a year.

About the lesson

I teach students who want to paint in oils or acrylics, using a paint brush and palette knife.
I encourage students to draw/sketch from life daily, be it a still life, a portrait or a landscape. The practice of doing some sketching Daily is what counts.
Students should paint what they love. I encourage them to find what they love so that they can submerge themselves in their painting.

Di is an unbelievably friendly and awesomely talented artist and her art classes are relaxed hubs of creativity ... with her guiding you one can only go from strength to strength. I learnt so much. Just wished I still lived close enough to get lessons regularly... would recommend her to everyone wanting to improve their art

Di is an amazing artist and her tutorship had me going from unrecognisable scribbles to actual sketching! I would tell anyone wanting to learn to paint to get some lessons with her. She has the knowledge and the passion to inspire. She can teach complete novices as well as aspiring painters who just want some guidance. She is also very kind and patient, which helps if you have not yet gained confidence in your own talent yet.
