About Cody

Cody Conley is an 19 year old violinist currently studying in New York City. He has been fortunate to study with Mark Huggins, Shlomo Mintz, and Benjamin Beilman. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in the Zukerman Performance Program at the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Patinka Kopec and Pinchas Zukerman. Cody has also attended and performed at several summer programs and festivals. These programs include Indiana University Jacobs School Summer String Academy, Curtis Institute Mentor Network, and Sunflower Music Festival. He has participated in masterclasses by Catherine Cho, David Kim, and Alexi Kenney. This summer, he will attend the Heifetz Institute in the senior division. Cody has competed as a soloist and chamber musician, winning the Pittsburgh Concert Society Young Artist Audition, the Philadelphia International Music Festival Concerto Competition, and the Fuchs Chamber Competition at the Manhattan School of Music. Other honors include prizes from the American Young Classical Musician, LISMA, Haslemere, Great Composers Best Wieniawski, and Music International Grand Prix competitions. As a dedicated teacher, Cody maintains an active private violin and viola studio. In 2025, he served as a teaching assistant and chamber coach for the Philadelphia International Music Festival. He has performed solo recitals in southern California and enjoys collaborating in chamber music. Sharing his music with diverse audiences at churches, senior living residences, and community outreach events remains a meaningful part of his musical journey. Cody is very grateful to perform on a 2017 Joseph Curtin violin and bows by F. Peccatte and J.B. Vuillaume.

About the lesson

I enjoy working with violin and viola students of all ages and skill levels! I have experience both as a teacher and as a chamber music coach. Having had the privilege of studying with some of the most legendary violinists, including Pinchas Zukerman, Shlomo Mintz, and Benjamin Beilman, I bring a wide range of styles and pedagogical methods to my teaching. I place great focus on initial setup following Ivan Galamian’s principals. My goal is to help students develop their ear, technique, musicality, and the ability to practice efficiently and solve problems independently. Every student is unique and deserves an individualized approach. I look forward to working with you!

Cody has been teaching me violin for over a year. When I started with him, I thought my technique was in good shape but, he completely started from the ground up and gave me a new foundation. This was very useful for me. I now feel much more confident in my technique. Cody is a very musical and incredible player which is always great to hear in lessons. His feedback is always useful and he is able to focus on the right things in lessons. I highly recommend!

Cody has helped me truly hone my artistic vision, and perfect my technical potential. He is patient, yet has always ensured I'm pushing my limits, and always finds a way to keep me inspired. 10/10!

I have played music with Cody as well as requested his feedback on my solo works. He is a very intelligent musician with a broad understanding of styles, interpretation and technique. Though I have never had lessons with Cody, I believe that he has the qualities that make for an excellent teacher

Cody Conley is truly the one of the most exceptional musicians I’ve had the pleasure of working personally with. He is extremely effective in his teaching style that helped me gain rapid progress in my viola playing. He was able to help me with my playing technique in a refreshing way that no teacher could before. I highly recommend him and I swear, he will bring your musicianship to a whole new level.
