About Celeste
I've been teaching music for nearly two decades, in the Netherlands , the United States, and now based back in South Africa. My focus on music education, was influenced by a varied and active performance career, which still shapes how I teach today.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Music Education, University of Pretoria
- Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education,University of Pretoria
- Master Certificate in Music Production, Berklee College of Music
- Certified Suzuki Method Teacher, European Suzuki Association
I teach, because the moment a student stops fighting the instrument and starts making music with it is wonderful! That moment is what I'm working towards with every student, every lesson.

My teaching is built on structure and patience, not one single style. My background spans classical training and pedagogy at university level, Suzuki Method certification, wind band, big band jazz in Chicago, and chamber orchestra in the Netherlands, and I draw on all of it to adapt to each student's goals.
Lesson structure is shaped by level: beginners get a steady, encouraging foundation; intermediate students get more targeted technical and musical challenges. I teach in English, Dutch, and Afrikaans, and welcome children through adults, including nervous adult beginners starting from scratch. Ensemble and group coaching is available on request.
A typical lesson with me is warm and focused, with clear goals to work on each week, all within a framework that still leaves room to enjoy the music, not just drill it.
