About Yerim Jamie

Yerim Jamie Hwang is a dedicated violinist and passionate educator with over a decade of experience teaching students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults. She has worked at institutions like The Rivers School Conservatory, Wayland School of Music, and Boston Dream Academy, specializing in both Suzuki and traditional violin methods. Yerim’s approach focuses on technical precision, expressive playing, and developing strong practice habits. She has extensive training in the Suzuki Method, with experience in both South Korea and the United States, allowing her to offer structured yet creative lessons that inspire discipline and musicality. In addition to private instruction, Yerim has led group classes, chamber ensembles, and introductory courses for parents and children, creating a collaborative learning environment. She has also contributed to outreach programs, teaching violin fundamentals to underserved communities. Yerim holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Baylor University and a Bachelor of Music from Roosevelt University. She continues to refine her craft as both an educator and performer, bringing warmth, expertise, and enthusiasm to every lesson.

About the lesson

Yerim combines Suzuki and traditional methods to provide a well-rounded musical education. Beginners benefit from Suzuki’s listening-based approach, while advancing students incorporate sight-reading, music theory, and expressive playing into their studies. Every lesson is tailored to the student’s skill level and learning style to ensure steady progress.

A Typical Lesson Includes:
Warm-Up – Posture check, bow exercises, and scales to develop tone and flexibility.
Technical Work – Exercises to strengthen bow control, shifting, vibrato, and intonation.
Repertoire Practice – Learning pieces step by step, focusing on phrasing, dynamics, and musical expression.
Review & Application – Reinforcing past lessons, refining skills, and setting practice goals.

Why Study with Yerim?
Adaptable Teaching Style – Engaging lessons designed for young beginners, teens, and adults.
Holistic Approach – Develops not just technique, but also confidence, resilience, and artistry.
Supportive Learning Environment – Encouraging, structured lessons that make learning both fun and effective.

Yerim is extremely talented and patient. My daughter started violin lessons at age 4 and I could not have asked for a better teacher. Yerim was able to keep her focused for the entire 30 minutes and had fun instructional games that my daughter loved to play with her. My daughter really enjoyed going to lessons every week and practiced daily so she could share her achievements with Yerim every week. Learning technique is not always fun for little children, but Yerim made it fun! Yerim pays attention to detail and understands the importance of learning proper technique from the start. I highly recommend Yerim, you will not be disappointed.
