About Marcus

Hi! My name is Marcus Halim and I have been a Professional VCE Tutor for over 2 years now, with 350+ hours of experience.

I graduated from Donvale Christian College in 2020 and scored an ATAR of 98.3

I was able to achieve this with a raw study score of 42 in Chemistry amidst the pandemic.

I became a tutor because I have always loved to nurture and help others to do better and exceed their expectations. Coming from a heavily science background, I decided the best way to do this was through tutoring Chemistry, a subject that I have always had a passion for, which I continue to use and learn today.

I currently study a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University and am more than happy to assist students with any questions or advice regarding potential tertiary studies and careers in my field :)

About the lesson

I believe that there is no cookie-cutter approach in assisting students to achieve their potential, thus classes are flexible to be catered directly to the students needs and learning style.

VCE Chemistry is often perceived as one of the most intimidating, complex and content subjects out there. However, it is VERY possible to score highly with the right approach to both thinking and learning content.

Having gone through the entire process myself and completing more advanced Chemistry at University with a high-distinction, I am confident that I am adequately equipped to assist all students in systematically breaking down each concept to be more understandable and emphasise the methods of independent problem solving. This trumps any rerliance on rote memorisation and is targeted towards all types of possible exam questions.

Classes typically run between 60-90 minutes, but can be adjusted to suit students preference, both online and in-peson offered (subject to location)

All students recieve access to:

- Comprehensive notes sent via Google Drive after each class

- Practice Exam Bank

- Weekly 'Quizzes' Exam-style worksheets of VCAA questions

- 24/7 Support for any help throughout the year

- Timeline to ensure content can be completed early, leaving plenty of time for dedicated exam preparation
