About Rachael

I am a native English speaker from Canada, and currently live in Kawartha Lakes, ON, Canada. I am TESOL certified. I acquired my Advanced TESOL Diploma from Global TESOL College in Toronto, Canada. I also have a BA with a double major in Global Studies and Spanish. I am a kind, creative, and patient teacher. I have 5 years of experience teaching ESL in South Korea. I taught all levels of learners from the basic phonics level to the advanced, almost fluent level. I have experience with a variety of ages including kindergarten through middle school, but I can teach adults, too. Some of my passions in life include crafting, cooking, nature photography, board games, and traveling. Whenever I can I try to incorporate them into my lessons to make them more fun. In the same way, I will tailor the lessons to each student’s needs and interests. I hope to see you soon in a free trial lesson!

About the lesson

I believe in learning a new language in a practical way, so in my classes we will use different types of media such as videos, movies, stories, and news articles to explore the world of English.

The goal in my classes is to upgrade your vocabulary library. However, it won’t be about memorizing new words for tests, but how to recognize and use the new words in everyday life. Every language has multiple ways of saying similar things. I want to help you become comfortable with the wide variety of vocabulary the English language has to offer.

If you’re just starting, I’ll teach you the phonics you need to sound out new words. From there, we’ll work on listening and pronunciation. Once you have a grasp at the basics we’ll start trying to use the words you hear or read in your own way. Classes will be online (Zoom) and can be anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes each. Choose the class length that suits you best.
