About Adam
I am Adam Kelly, and I am studying both Irish and Spanish at DCU as part of my teaching course. As per my degree, I require experience in teaching as I am teaching my peers topics that they already know in either Irish or Spanish. I’d like to gain experience in teaching students who are interested in learning the language for school or their own personal development.

I’d start with asking the student what they want to improve on such as grammar, spoken skills, listening, writing and so on. I’d work until the student feels comfortable in that area for as long as they need. With the remaining time, for an example,I’d work on grammar or listening since they tend to be very weak areas generally for students.
If the student doesn’t have a specific weak area, I’d break the hour into 3, 20 minute blocks. The first 20 will be writing and I’ll have them write a letter and some translation work for about 10-15 minutes then correct it and see where they went wrong. The next 20 minutes will be listening for another 10 minutes, correct their work and go through the transcript to see if they understood all the words when they are written down. The final 20 minutes will be a casual conversation for them to build confidence in their day to day Spanish as having more confidence in the language in more important than reciting paragraphs of work to the examiner.
