I may not have an official title as a tutor but I do have a lot of experience because Mexico has been my home for the last decade and a half. From my perspective, nothing beats experience. I can assure you that my level of Spanish knowledge is at the same level as a Spanish teacher, if not better.

I mostly use the Grammar-translation method in which the learning is largely by translation to and from the target language. Grammar rules are to be memorized and long lists of vocabulary learned by heart. After learning enough vocabulary I focus on oral expression (it includes pronunciation, sentence forming, etc.). Lastly I work on listening.

I have taught several friends and relatives on how to communicate effectively in Spanish.
