About Utkarsh
Hello, my name is Utkarsh, and I am a Statistics and Psychology double major student at Dalhousie University with a strong passion for learning, teaching, and helping students achieve their academic goals.
As someone who has studied statistics in depth and applied it through psychology research, I understand that statistics can often feel overwhelming at first. My goal as a tutor is to make statistics approachable by explaining concepts clearly, connecting them to real-world examples, and helping students develop the confidence to solve problems independently.
I have experience working with statistical concepts such as probability, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression, correlation, ANOVA, chi-square tests, and data interpretation. My academic background and involvement in research have helped me understand how statistics is used beyond textbooks, allowing me to teach both the theory and practical application of statistical methods.
I believe a great tutor is not just someone who knows the subject but someone who can communicate ideas effectively and adapt to each student's learning style. I create a supportive and judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving step by step.
Whether you are a high school student, an undergraduate student, or someone looking to strengthen your statistical skills, I will work with you to build a strong foundation and make statistics easier to understand. I am committed to providing patient, personalized, and engaging lessons that help students succeed academically and gain confidence in their abilities.

I believe statistics is a subject that should be understood, not memorized. As a double major in Statistics and Psychology at Dalhousie University, I have learned how statistics is applied in real research, data analysis, and decision-making. My goal is to help students build confidence by breaking down difficult concepts into simple, logical steps that are easy to understand and remember.
My teaching approach is personalized because every student learns differently. Before we begin, I like to understand your current level, your goals, and the topics you find challenging. During lessons, I explain concepts using practical examples, visual explanations, and real-life applications instead of relying solely on formulas. I encourage questions throughout the lesson and believe there is no such thing as a "stupid question." I would much rather explain a concept five different ways than have a student leave feeling confused.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material, followed by an explanation of a new concept. We then work through examples together before moving on to independent practice, where I guide you through your thinking process rather than simply giving answers. At the end of each lesson, I summarize the key takeaways and provide practice questions or study strategies to reinforce what we covered.
My background in both Statistics and Psychology allows me to teach not only the mathematics behind statistics but also how statistical methods are used in psychology, business, health sciences, and research. Through my university coursework and research experience, I have developed a strong understanding of topics such as probability, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression, correlation, ANOVA, chi-square tests, statistical inference, and data interpretation. I also help students understand statistical software and research methods when needed.
What sets me apart is my patience, adaptability, and genuine passion for helping others succeed. I focus on helping students develop problem-solving skills and statistical intuition so they can confidently tackle unfamiliar questions on assignments and exams. Rather than memorizing procedures, my students learn why each method works and when to apply it.
My lessons are suitable for high school students, college and university students taking introductory or intermediate statistics courses, as well as anyone looking to strengthen their understanding of statistics for psychology, business, social sciences, health sciences, or general data analysis. Whether you're preparing for an exam, working on assignments, or starting from the basics, I will tailor each lesson to your learning style and academic goals.
