  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your subject and in private tutoring?

My passion for mathematics and statistics grew out of my practical NATED Mechanical Engineering background, where I excelled and earned a distinction in Mathematics. Seeing how mathematical principles power engineering concepts made me want to help others master the subject.
Having spent the last 6 years tutoring (including 5 years on Superprof), my interest in private instruction has grown into a core professional dedication.
Seeing students build confidence and master topics that once intimidated them is incredibly fulfilling.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I specialize in Mathematics and Statistics across both school and tertiary levels.
With a NATED Mechanical Engineering Certificate, an NQF Level 5 Certificate in Mathematics and Statistics, and currently finalizing my BSc Degree in Mathematics and Statistics, I love teaching calculus, algebra, probability, and applied statistics.
I enjoy showing students how abstract mathematical principles apply to physical engineering and real-world data.
If I had to pick a topic I enjoy slightly less, it would be repetitive basic arithmetic—while vital, I prefer diving into structured logic, calculus proofs, and analytical strategies!
  • 3) Did you have any role models? Perhaps a teacher that inspired you?

I was inspired by lecturers who transformed complex theory into clear, logical steps. Rather than giving direct answers, they encouraged independent problem-solving. That approach shaped my own teaching philosophy: guiding students through structured questioning so they gain genuine mastery rather than short-term memorization.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    * Patience & Empathy: Recognizing that every student learns at a different pace, especially in technical subjects like calculus and statistics.
    * Adaptability: Customizing lessons to fit different learning styles, whether teaching virtually or face-to-face.
    * Structural Clarity: Breaking down multi-step tertiary-level problems into digestible, manageable concepts.
  • 5) Could you share an anecdote related to your subject or your student days?

While working through advanced calculus coursework, I once spent hours filling pages with tedious algebraic work on a single problem. When I stepped back to review the fundamental definitions, I realized a simple variable substitution resolved the whole proof in three lines. It was a clear reminder that when a problem feels overwhelmingly complex, returning to core foundations brings clarity.
  • 6) Did you face any difficulties at school or tertiary level?

Transitioning through the TVET college system with a NATED Mechanical Certificate and moving into an Open Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) environment for my BSc Degree in Mathematics and Statistics presented unique challenges. Studying under the ODeL model requires extreme self-discipline, rigorous time management, and the ability to master complex concepts independently without daily in-person lectures. Overcoming these challenges gave me firsthand insight into the struggles my students experience, allowing me to provide practical advice on how to study independently and succeed under pressure.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of this particular subject, or something completely different?

My main passion is the intersection of structure, logic, and visual clarity—whether in a clean mathematical proof, physical engineering concept, or structured lesson design. Outside of my degree work and teaching, I also enjoy graphic layout design and sports analytics, both of which rely heavily on organizing details clearly.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (and why I deserve the Ambassador Badge)?

With 6 years of tutoring experience (5 years on Superprof), a solid academic foundation (NATED Mechanical Certificate with Math Distinction, NQF Level 5 Math & Stats Certificate, and an ongoing BSc in Math & Stats), I bring proven expertise and consistency to every lesson. I have successfully tutored many students across Krugersdorp and Chancliff, offering high-quality 1-on-1 sessions both in-person and online. My track record, dedication to student success, and strong qualifications make me a deserving candidate for the Ambassador Badge.
