About Yue
If you are looking for a patient, knowledgeable and bilingual Mandarin tutor, I would be delighted to support you or your child.
I recently completed my master’s degree at the University of Melbourne. Before coming to Australia, I studied Chinese Language and Literature as an undergraduate. My Modern Chinese and language-focused coursework included the systematic study of standard Mandarin pronunciation, initials and finals, the four tones, vocabulary, grammar and language use. I also studied classical and modern Chinese literature, developing particular strengths in reading comprehension, text analysis, authors’ intentions, emotional expression and literary techniques.
I hold a Level 2-A Certificate in the Putonghua Proficiency Test, as well as a Chinese high school teaching qualification. Chinese has always been one of my strongest subjects, and I achieved over 120 out of 150 in Chinese in China’s National College Entrance Examination.
I am cheerful, calm, patient and responsible. I served as class monitor throughout my undergraduate studies and regularly helped classmates understand difficult questions. During my two years in Melbourne, I also hosted a number of arts and cultural events, which further developed my communication, public-speaking and audience-engagement skills.
I am fluent in English, so I can clearly explain unfamiliar Chinese vocabulary, grammar and cultural meanings in English when needed. Having recently graduated, I currently have flexible availability and can give every student thoughtful lesson preparation, individual attention and consistent support.

I offer personalized one-to-one online Mandarin lessons covering listening, speaking, reading and writing. A standard lesson is 60 minutes, although the duration can be extended when a student needs additional practice or more detailed guidance. My schedule is flexible, with greater availability in the evenings.
My lessons are suitable for students of all ages and levels, especially children, young learners from Chinese-speaking or heritage families, and adults who would like to improve their Mandarin for study, work or everyday communication.

If a student does not understand an explanation, I approach the topic from another angle rather than relying on memorization. My aim is to help students truly understand Chinese and remain interested in learning it.
